On 23 September 2024, Kuwait’s Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) launched the .kw country-code top-level domain (ccTLD) registration service. The rollout follows a phased approach to ensure a structured and organized registration process.
Phased Registration Process

Sunrise Period (First Six Months)
- Open to government entities, trademark holders, and existing third-level domain owners (.com.kw, .net.kw, .org.kw).
- Priority registration for eligible applicants to secure their domain names.

Landrush Period
- Following the sunrise phase, domain names will be available at premium rates for a limited time.

General Availability Phase
- The final phase will allow public registration at reduced prices, opening up access to all interested applicants.
This initiative aims to enhance Kuwait’s digital presence, providing businesses and institutions with a dedicated national domain for online branding and visibility.
